A gun dealer has filed an injunction in the High Court against Commisioner of Police Darwin Dottin.
In the writ, llcence gun dealer Greg Cozier, has accused the Commisioner of Police of waging a personal agenda againt him.
On March 30, 2006 Cozier the owner of Sportsimport located at Hopewell, St Thomas, made an application import ten Remington 700.
According to official correspondence between the Commissioner and a police investtigation was launched after queries from a foreign government agency.
Cozier was invited by the Dottin to take part in a hearing to considering the revocation of his firearm dealer's licence.
In correspondence from Dottin to Cozier dated February 7, 2012, the Commissioner wrote that Cozier "did not find it possible to attend" and accused the gun dealer of making false representation about the police and army.
"The investigation found that you made a representation which suggested that you had the authority to import ten sniper rifles for the use of the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) and the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), when in fact there was no such authority .There was no permission for Sportsimport to order and import any rifles for the RBPF or the BDF. The application for an end user certificate based on the orders from the RBPF and the BDF were misleading since neither agency had requested Sportsimport to import the articles given" the letter stated.
A hearing was held on February 28, at which Cozier was asked to show why his licence should not be revoked.
His lawyers asked for adjournment and filed an injunction in the High Court. .
