Georgetown: Foreign Minister of Barbados, Senator Maxine McLean will be leading a delegation, including private sector representatives on an official visit to Guyana from October 4 to 6.
Presidential Advisor on Governance, Gail Teixeira at a post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President today, said that during this visit, the second meeting of the Guyana-Barbados Joint Economic, Technical and Cultural Commission will be held.
Sectors that will be discussed include: agriculture, education, tourism and hospitality, transport, immigration, security and legal services, and investments and export.
The Guyana delegation will be headed by Foreign Affairs Minister, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett.
In July 2002, Guyana and Barbados signed an agreement to establish a commission to examine ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The inaugural session of the Guyana /Barbados Joint Commission was held in October 2007.
