Georgetown: Guyana is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Haiti on the sidelines of the 29th Intercessional Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), to be held from February 26-27, 2018 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
This was disclosed by Minister of State, Joseph Harmon Thursday during a post-Cabinet press conference.
President David Granger, who will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Greenidge is expected to sign on behalf of Guyana, while Haiti will be represented either by its Head of State, Jovenel Moïse or another designated official.
The MOU will provide a framework for a Guyana/Haiti joint commission that will seek to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in the areas of tourism, agriculture, water management, forestry and food security.
President Moïse assumed the Chairmanship of CARICOM on January 1, 2018.
