Guyana National Service should be immediately reintroduced- Region Three REO

Region Three, Regional Executive Officer (REO) Denis Jaikaran

Georgetown: Region Three Democratic Council, Regional Executive Officer, Denis Jaikaran has called on government to immediately reintroduction the Guyana National Service to curb abnormal social behaviours that currently exist among the youths.

The REO shared this sentiment at a recent forum organised by the Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency.

Jaikaran said that young people deserve the opportunity to benefit from the various skills training programmes that were once available in the country through the Guyana National Service.

The Guyana National Service ensures that discipline is paramount and patriotism is promoted, he said. It is visible to all that since the closure of the Guyana National Service, love for country has deteriorated and indiscipline is rising at a fast rate.

The REO believes that Interior Towns can be created through the reintroduction of the National Service because more people will become economically empowered and a greater level of self-sufficiency will be created.

Additionally, economic activities will be enhanced much to the benefit of the associated players and country as a whole.

The REO further believes that the Guyana National Service can play a major role in the management of the country’s natural resources which will ensure involvement of Guyanese and promote prosperity of the people.
