Georgetown: Moving away from a mere 8,000 tonnes of packaged sugar annually for the domestic and export markets, Guysuco will now be able to do 40,000 tonnes annually as a result of a US$12 million packaging facility at Enmore on the East Coast of Demerara. According to Guysuco's management the fiqure will increase by 80,000 tonnes annually. "This investment is part of Guysuco's modernization plan", said Guysuco's Chief Exexcutive Officer Paul Bhim. The Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud said that the facility respresents Government's commitment to the sugar industry and the welfare of workers. Packaged sugar will soon be available in ½ kg, 1kg, 2kg, 25kg and 50 kg.
