China Harbour Engineering Corporation (CHEC) has responded to Guyana's Parliamentary Opposition saying that its recent visit to the country was to meet specifically with the Government and its Ministry of Public Works.
A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) headed by Brigadier (rtd) David Granger, had written to the Chinese Company recently, demanding explanations for not meeting with the opposition, which commands control of the country's Parliament.
The letter from the Office of the Leader of the Opposition was inked by Member of Parliament, Joe Harmon.
CHEC in its response says that while in Guyana last week, it did meet with the media and several private sector bodies.
The company apologized to APNU for the apparent snub, calling it an “omission.”
CHEC is the Company that recently landed a US$150M Expansion project for the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
It had been debarred from the World Bank for corruption related matters.
