Guyana’s economic policies examined in day two of the budget debate.

Georgetown-  Government will continue to defend the economic policies and continual growth in the country.
Minister of housing Irfaan Alli yesterday stated that the injection of financing into Guysuco will secure the jobs of sugar workers and that a vote against such should be judged

The housing minister who was the first speaker on the government side stated too the budget reflects fiscal prudence which will pave the way for job creation, the advancing of the Millenium development goals and a technologically equipped working force.

A Partnership for National Unity parliamentarian, Carl Greenidge called for the setting up of the procurement commission and for better management of the country’s financial resources.

While hailing the increase in the threshold, Mr. Greenidge says ways must be looked at to have an increase in wages and salaries for public sector workers and the restoring of the collective bargaining agreement

Alliance for Change member Moses Nagamootooo in his presentation stated that restructuring of the Guysuco management is needed.
He added that there must be a new governance mechanism to tackle poverty and unemployment in the country.
