Georgetown : Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh in presenting the 2014 National Budget yesterday said the Guyanese economy recorded its eighth consecutive year of growth, with real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanding by 5.2 percent. Non-sugar GDP grew even more rapidly by 6.3 percent, reflecting the underlying strength of the other sectors of the economy.
“Mr. Speaker, it is significant to note that the eight years from 2006 to 2013 represents the longest period of uninterrupted real economic growth in independent Guyana.” the Minister said.
