“There seem to be a mentality created to try to criticize projects that can transform our country and bring a better standard of living for our people”
Those were the words of Guyana’s Head of State Donald Ramotar as he launched the Country’s 3rd International Building Expo on Saturday evening.
He said that “there seems to be a crusade, a direct attack and a crusade to taint everything with corruption to say everything is corrupt.”
Ramotar told the hundreds gathered on the tarmac of the Guyana National Stadium that the attacks today, that have been levelling corrupt charges, are akin to the attacks against the Government when it was looking to construct the Guyana National Stadium or the Berbice River Bridge.
“All of these things we see….they don’t want to see progress being made in the society because of jealousy and because they believe that if things get bad it will be better for them politically.”
Ramotar cautioned that “we cannot live with such negative feeling around us…We must be determined to push ahead.”
