Georgetown: At this year’s GuyExpo, some 400 exhibitors and over 100,000 local and overseas visitors are expected, during the four days of the expo, according to GuyExpo 2016 Marketing Manager Mrs. Chevon Lim.
Guyana’s largest Trade and Investment Exposition, GuyExpo, will be held this year from May 12th -15th, 2016 under the theme “50 Years, Guyana Means Business – Promoting Enterprise, Driving Productivity”.
Mrs Lim noted that the theme is perfectly aligned with the objectives of the Ministry of Business and broader government policy to create the enabling environment that will foster business growth and development in Guyana.
She explained that while there are many success stories in relation to how local businesses have been able to take advantage of the linkages GuyExpo has created, there are numerous Guyanese businesses, scattered across North America who are now on their way to creating their success stories and are awaiting their debut at GuyExpo 2016.
This year, she said the GuyExpo 2016 Planning Committee, under the auspices of the Ministry of Business has decided to strengthen relationships within the Diaspora and to expand the invitation to businesses and potential exhibitors in New York.
To facilitate this, Mrs Lim said the Chairperson of the Planning Committee, Ms. Dawn Holder Alert and the Coordinator, Mrs. Tameca Sukhdeo- Singh will meet and interact with business representatives in the Diaspora, during a Diaspora Symposium, which is slated for April 3rd, in New York.
The Committee representatives will be encouraging those present to seize the opportunity to participate in GuyExpo 2016 and to reap the benefits that follow; the Committee is collaborating with the Guyana Action Committee to host this activity.
Meanwhile, the Marketing Manager said a company, product or service will be exposed to over 2000 persons per hour at the event. These prospective clients are able to interact with businesses in an environment that is comfortable and friendly.
GuyExpo 2016 has already attracted interest from various countries including Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America (USA) Suriname, China, Indonesia, UK, Suriname and Barbados; the Organisers are confident that this interest will lead to participation.
As part of the activities this year, the GuyExpo Planning Committee will also be hosting a series of Workshops geared towards business development and capacity building. There will be presentations on Packaging and Marketing, Social Media, Access to Financing, Tax Breaks/ Incentives and Preparing Business Plans.
The opportunities for business linkages, sales and promotion are nothing but far-reaching, allowing businesses to tangibly benefit from the eagerly anticipated period as Guyana celebrates 50 years of Independence.
The hosting of this highly anticipated event during the month of May, 2016 rather than later in the year is deliberate, as it gives local businesses of all categories, types and sizes and other foreign exhibitors the opportunity to showcase the products and services they offer, not only to those who reside in Guyana, but also those living abroad who will be visiting at the time.
