Georgetown- Guysuco' management has so far fail to come to terms with striking sugar workers who are demanding fair treatment . The workers from various estates continue to protest against untimely payment of salaries and benefits and the industry's failure to meet production targets. While they were blamed for being responsible for failing to meet the first quarter target , workers shifted the blame to Guysuco's mangement saying that poor performance by the managers is responsible for the state of affairs confronting Guysuco. Managers need to take a hands on approach to manage the harvesting better said one worker, explaining that more time need to be spent in the fields. He added that this work cannot be done in an office but out where production is taking place. Minister of Agriculture Leslie Ramsammy is being called upon to review the current management team . It is not clear whether Guysuco will meet the workers demands as the role of the union GAWU is also being questioned.
