Half million for Royal visit

Bridgetown.

The visit of Prince Edward the youngest child of Queen Elizabeth the second and his wife Princess Sophie to Barbados later this month will cost $530,643.

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart told the House of Assembly last night $254,643 was needed  for  activities being coordinated by the Cabinet Office including two state functions.

Minister of Transports and Works John Boyce said the remaining $276,198 was being spent on upgrading an renovating Government House .

The Royal Couple will be on a official visit to the island from February 23 to 24 as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
