Georgetown : General Manager of the Bridge, Rawlston Adams says the Demerara Harbour Bridge will be in full operation by tomorrow. In the meantime pedestrians and pedal and motor cyclists are allowed to cross the Bridge as some amount of normalcy has been restored due to the tireless efforts of the maintenance team.
Those who had the opportunity to use the bridge are relieved that the bridge was closer to being restored to full operations.
Adams indicated that 80% of the works to restore the section of the bridge that collapsed was already completed. On Monday morning last around 6:45hrs, the temporary pontoon which was installed to execute maintenance works in the area of span 60 and 61 sank thereby causing the bridge to be submerged.
