Georgetown : There have been a few meetings between Minister of State, Joseph Harmon and former Head of the National and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL), Winston Brassington, which were no secret.
Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman, responding to questions posed by the media today at a post – Cabinet briefing about the recent meetings overseas with Brassington, explained that Minister Harmon is a member of the NICIL Board and with Brassington, being an employee of the agency (until his recent resignation), the former was within his rights to seek “further information and clarification on any matter the Board may have asked him to”.
According to Minister Trotman, the meetings were no secret or ones “that should be shrouded in mystery or secrecy”.
Brassington recently resigned as the Head of NICIL as an audit of the agency was being conducted by the Coalition Government to ascertain the state of its finances and business activities.
