Harrison College at the top of the class

Students from Harrison College,  the leading secondary schooll in Barbados won half of the 34 Barbados Scholarship and exhibitions awarded this year. 

The overall winners are down from last year's 52, officals from the Ministry of Education said ths year's figures are on par with 2009.

Queen's College and the Barbados Community College have been awarded the other scholarships. Combermere School and the Lodge School two of older secondary schools on the island, have fail once more to win a scholarship or exhibition winner.

Minister of Education, Ronald Jones says the lack of scholarship winners from these two school have cause a bit of concern.Although stressing that the two schools were still performing well,Jones said there is a need for an analysis ofthe  performance of these two schools at the six form level.

Harrison College took seven scholarships and ten exhibitions; Queen College had four scholarships and eight exhibitions, while the Barbados Community College finished with two scholarships and three exhibitions.
