Health Sector boosted with $16 M in medical equipment from Chinese Gov’t

Georgetown : The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) was presented with Ophthalmology operating microscope, automatic operating table, general medical and pathology equipment from the Government of China through gifts by the Jiangsu Province of China.

 The Linden Hospital will also benefit from the donation which is valued $16M.
Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Yu Wenzhe handed over the equipment to the Minister of Health

 Dr. Leslie Ramsammy . Wenzhe is optimistic that the donation will improve the potential of the two hospitals in providing quality medical service to the Guyanese.
 He noted that this contribution represents the warm friendship and close cooperation between the two countries.
           
According to a report from the Health Ministry, Minister Ramsammy expressed appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for the tangible donation that will enhance and strengthen the health sector.
The donation of the Ophthalmology operating microscope will provide further capacity within the department to perform high quality ophthalmological surgery, Dr.Ramsammy said.
