Health sector boosted with Chinese $25M medical donation

Georgetown : The Chinese Government has donated medical tools and equipment valued $25M that will benefit general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, gynaecology and obstetrics, plastic surgery, and endocrinology departments here in Guyana.
The donation also includes an ultrasound machine for the Linden Hospital Complex, Region 10.
Minister of Health, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran in accepting the gesture said this will boost the health

Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Yu Wenzhe indicated that the equipment will be distributed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), the Linden Hospital Complex and other health institutions.
With regards to the medical outreaches being carried out by the Health Ministry, Ambassador Wenzhe noted that the purpose of those is to take medical services to the ordinary people so they too can enjoy the available services.
Ambassador Wenzhe said the tenth Chinese medical brigade which has been in Guyana for four months has already developed good working relations with their Guyanese colleagues and patients, and most importantly they serve as a bridge between Guyana and China. Ambassador Wenzhe pointed out that China will continue to provide assistance to the best of its ability to Guyana.
With regards to the provision of medical scholarship, the Ambassador disclosed that the Government of China has issued eight scholarships to Guyanese youths to study medicine, dentistry and general medicine.
