The cost of healthcare in Barbados has become a major financial challenge for the Government and Minister of Health Donville Inniss, is suggesting that alternative methods of financing must be found to address the situation.
Inniss told Trakker News the current procedure of healthcare financing is unsustainable and the Ministry of Health is examining the re-introduction of an national health levy to provide better access to healthcare for Barbadians.
Inniss says the levy would be paid by all workers and would be used exclusively for thr provision of healthcare across the board. He added if a decision istaken to go in this direction, the Government has to be clear on the range of services to be provided.
