Georgetown: As the government pushes to provide effective pre-hospital care services to the public, the launch of the Universal Emergency Care Training Incorporated will further boost the healthcare services offered in Guyana.
In brief remarks, Founder of Universal Emergency Care Training Incorporated, Dr. Roy London, explained that the university is an extension of his US-based educational facility, where he aims to train health and non-health professionals.
According to Dr. London, the facility will offer programmes in paramedics Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), ultrasound technician, gynaecology, basic life support, nursing, Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) among other programmes.
He also noted that the establishment of the university will also provide opportunities for other Caribbean nationals to attend since the courses will be offered at a “discount price” as opposed to those offered in other medical educational institutions.
The founder said that persons who do not have the necessary requirements to enter the programme will be granted the opportunity to undergo a remedial programme to assess their qualifications.
Classes are offered from Monday to Friday from 09:00hrs to 20:00hrs and on Saturdays from 09:00hrs to 15:00hrs then from 18:00hrs to 20:00hrs, to accommodate employed persons.
Persons interested can register online at the university’s website or Facebook page or visit the facility located at 94 Laluni Street, Queenstown to learn more about the services offered.
