Heirlooms safe

Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley, has assured Barbadians the newly enacyed Antiquities and Relics Bill was not designed to confiscate people's family heirlooms.

Lashley told Trackker News the Bill was designed to preserve Barbados' historic artefacts, buildings and monuments and is not a tool for taking away family heirlooms.

"It is not, as I have seen reported  in the press designed  to confiscate people heirlooms.This is legislation that in the first instance crucial to preserving our recently designated UNESCO inscription of Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison.It rules out the kind of abuse that I have been hearing about in relation to heirlooms", Lashley said.
