Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds is now describing the Government's handling of the Reshmi Ramnarine appointment as head of the SSA as wreaking of corruption.
He was speaking in Parlimanent a short while ago on a bill to amend the Anti-Corruption Act of 1997 piloted by Attorney General Anand Ramlogan.
Ramlogan had launched an attack on the PNM administrations of yester-year accusing them of being corrupt and failing during their time in office to tackle the issue head on.
Hinds however, fired back with the Ramnarine affair saying corruption didn't only have to do with money. He accused the government of concealing the truth and attempting to push through a "rookie" based on a recommendation that by-passed the National Security Minister John Sandy and went straight to the Prime Minister's office.
The bill amendment seeks, in part, to establish an Anti-Corruption Commission.
