Home Affairs Minister calls on training ranks to maintain professionalism to rebuild public confidence

Georgetown : Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee today called on officers of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) to maintain professionalism at all times, he was at the time addressing ranks at the opening of the Junior Officers’ Course 21 at the Police Officers’ Mess, Eve Leary.
He said that the course which is being executed under the theme, “Training for Greater Efficiency and Effectiveness”, forms part of the strategic training programme of the GPF which is endorsed fully by the Home Affairs Ministry.
Minister Rohee said that public confidence in the GPF is critical; however, unless the rank and file of the Force adopt a professional stance on a continuous basis, the degree to which the public will cooperate will be affected in a negative way.
“The issue of professionalism has to form the basis of the work of all members of the disciplined services. Members of the Force are required to be evenhanded when addressing all issues if public confidence in the Force is to be improved,” Minister Rohee said.

The Minister urged the officers to, “use this course as a stepping stone for your further development as members of society and the Force.”
