Georgetown : The Home Affairs Ministry in response to a letter that appeared in the Kaieteur News on January 19th, captioned ‘Trunkers’ claimed to be employed by Home Ministry and Police Force’, stated that it did not employ any person/s to conduct the kind of covert activities of the nature referred to.
In the letter, the writer recounted his experience on the evening of January 16th, while his car was parked at the junction of Sheriff Street and the East Coast Highway, where two persons were prying open his parked vehicle but took off in a route 47 minibus bearing a Guyana Police Force’s licence plate, after they realized that the owner was still in vehicle.
The Home Affairs Ministry in a release stated that it is not surprising that the suspected thieves arrested by the Police, would claim to be staffers of the Ministry.
The applicable charges will be instituted against the duo, including for providing misleading information to the Police.
