Politics must not divide Police Ranks – Home Affairs responds to opposition

Georgetown : The Ministry of Home Affairs in a press release today condemned recent statements made by Leader of the Opposition David Granger which it said sought to demoralise and discredit the ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF).

Granger in his statement said that there is nothing in the Security Reform Strategy that will bring about any improvement in the country.

The Ministry’s release stated that as a presidential hopeful, Granger chose to denigrate the efforts of the force and to shun their efforts to provide a better level of service to the people of Guyana.

“We must fight against any attempt to divide the ranks of the GPF along political lines, and to maintain the integrity and professionalism of the organisation,” the release noted.
