Several Barbadians will be getting the keys to their new homes before Christmas Day or by year end.
Minister of Housing Lands Michael Lashley made this disclosure while speaking to the media following a tour of two National Housing Corporation (NHC) projects at River Crescent, St Philip and Forde Road, St Michael.
Reffering to the the River Crescent Project, which is part of the NHC Rent to Own Programme, the Minister indicated this is a sure way of helping people who do not qualify for a mortage to buy their own homes.
Lashley said the houses were competed on location, and were part of a larger project being build through a loans agreement for $7o million with the Caribbean Development Bank.
He added that given the limited land space, the houses were built on colums, allowing persons to develop that space at a time which best suits them.
