Former Minister of Health Dr Jerome Walcott says the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is in an mess and  has a nursing shortage of 66.

Speaking at the opening of his Christ church South constituency office on Maxwell Coast Road, Walcott said the Government had failed Barbadians in the area of health care.

"Has anything improved at the QEH? Are people still at the Accident &Emergency Department for two and three day? Two weeks ago not a sterilization machine in the Sterilization Department was working", says Walcott.

"Every day, there are  issues and we issues and we hear that this is a Government committed to providing social care and building a society and yet ministers are flying al over the world. The Minister of Health went to China a few weeks ago, speaking on all kind of things but not dealing with issues pertinent to the QEH and health care in tis country", he lamented.

"There has beena shortage of drugs, vital supplies and toilet paper. Every day of the wek there is something short at the QEH except patients", Walcott said.
