Bridgetown.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital ( QEH) is in urgent need of blood donors, in a press release this afternoon, the QEH appealed to all heathly Barbadians to donate blood as soon as possible.
Carolyn Williams Gaye, the hospital's communications specialist said:"We have seen an increase of A Positive donations as a results of a recent call for that blood type, however there isa critical need for donationsof all blood types right now".
"Over the last couple of month we have been experiencing particularly difficult times in recruiting more than enough blood donors to constantly meet the hospital requirements. Hence the reason there have been more calls in the last couple of months than previous experienced. People are just not coming forward as readily as they should to donate blood", Williams-Gaye said.
Blood is used in the treatment of cancer patients, people with blood disorders, premature babies, transplant recipients and trauma victims
