East Coast Demerara – The home of popular tutor of EBASCOL Bharrat Mutuma was torched at around 5 this morning. The teacher is in Trinidad on vacation and left two persons to tend to his house. It is believed that one of the men fell asleep on the sofa whilst smoking which resulted in the blaze. The other was in the bedroom asleep when he was aroused by the smoke. Luckily the blaze was contained from within before the arrival of the fire tender from Georgetown. A number of articles and electronics including a sofa set were all damaged in the blaze. The two men who are strong drinkers and smokers told investigators that a fan caused the fire, but their story seemed fishy when the scene proved otherwise.
