Housing Ministry to re-launch houselot repossession drive

Georgetown : The Ministry of Housing has indicated that it is working aggressively to ensure that a fool – proof system for houselot distribution is established as it has found that persons who have been allotted land are not using it for the purpose they are intended or are left unoccupied.

The Government Information Agency said the ministry found over the years that this has been the case in a number of areas, and the Ministry is in the process of re-launching its repossession drive, which will target especially the old areas in terms of having the lots which have not yet been utilized by persons, repossessed and reallocated to persons who are in more desperate need.
In several of the housing schemes, there are unoccupied lots, many of which are covered in thick vegetation.
