Berbice : The Ministry of Housing has moved their one stop-shop programme to Blairmont Community Centre, Region Five where 281 house lots were distributed yesterday.
Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali said the Central Housing and Planning Authority is pleased that it is able to continue what was started, that is, a comprehensive approach to meeting housing needs.
As such it is hoped that progress in the sector will continue and will be sustained long into the future.
“We would have invested more than $92M and a further $25M for electricity development which will give us an investment of approximately $450,000 per lot and we have approximately 280 lots being made available here. Before this, we would have invested more than $342M between 2000 -2011 with an investment cost of $350,000 per lot,” the Minister highlighted.
The Minister highlighted investments in Region Five which include the new $400M Cotton Tree water treatment facility, the installation of water transmission mains at Bath costing $17M, and the construction of a new well to support the Cotton Tree facility at a cost of $90 -$100M.
