Human trafficking ring busted

Bridgetown.

A man and a woman will appear in the District A Magistrate's Court today on human trafficking charges after police have smashed what they believe is a human trafficking ring last week.

Public Relation Officer of the Royal Barbados Police Force Inspector David Welch,  comfirmed to Trakker News this morning that a 25 year old man and a 36 year female owner of a bar in Nelson Street, Bridgetown were arrested following a raid by lawmen. As a result, a man and a woman will appear in court today jointly charged with human trafficking.

Police public relations officer Inspector David Welch yesterday confirmed that the two were charged following a police raid of a bar in Nelson Street, Bridgetown last Thursday and found five Guyanese women between the ages of 17 and 21  dressed only in bathing suits, working there.

Further investigation revealed women’s passports and documentation were being held by the owner of the bar  and not in their possession.

Other evidence suggested that the women were part of a regional network.
