Bridgetown: The Inter American Development Bank (IDB) is ready to help the Government of Barbados provide affordable homes for the people of Barbados.
President of the IDB Luis Alberto Moreno told the media that this is one of the several areas in which the bank hopes to help Barbados.
Moreno and a number of government officials led by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart held discussions on housing and several other matters yesterday.
According to Moreno among the subjects discussed were agriculture with specific focus on food security and help in controlling the island’s fiscal deficit.
Moreno said today’s discussions about the about the many areas the bank supports the Government of Barbados had been fruitful; the IDB remained committed to Barbados in these tough times.
“We have a big commitment to Barbados and we plan to continue with that commitment” says Moreno.
The IDB president was on an official visit to Barbados, he signed two loan agreements totaling $8o million dollars with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.
