Today is Independence Day in Barbados, the island celebrate it's 45th birthday with several events at various locations on the island.
Last night, retired surgeon Professor Errol Ricardo Walrond 75, was accorded the country highest national honour, the Knight of St Andrew today's Inependence Honors. Sir Errol has made a outstanding contribution to the development of medicine spanning almost 40 years.
He was honor for his outstanding service to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a consultant surgeon, and yeoman service to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the West Indies.
The second highest national honour, Companion of Honour, was awarded to Justice Sherman Moore for his outstanding contribution to the legal profession.
