International drug bust

The arrest of Canadian David Louie late last month by members of te Drug Squad of the Royal Barbados Police Force  on drug related and money laundering charges was part of an operation called Project Synergy co-ordinted by the United States Drug Enforement Administration (DEA).

On Wednesday, June 26th, a warrant was executed at Louie's residence 57, John's Plains, Holders Hill  by members of the Drug Squad. 

Louie, 57,  was arrested and charged for possession of 313 grams of cannabis, trafficking, possession with intent to supply, and money laundering.

  Louie was among more than 200 people arrested involved in what the DEA  has described as the largest-ever bust involving global synthetic drugs.

 Two hundred and twenty five  people arrested in five countries which also included the United States, Canada, Australia, and Panama. The investigation began in December 2012 and culminated on June 26, when several arrests were made.

DEA officials have descrbed the bust as the largest-ever bust involving global synthetic drugs.
