Georgetown : President Bharrat Jagdeo addressing the nation this afternoon on National Television Network, said he is in control of the armed forces under the constitution of Guyana until a new president is sworn in. With the climate of fear this afternoon, the President said this is an act of terror and his administration will take strong action. He said a team is set up to monitor persons who would want to drive fear into people at this time and he will deal with them seriously, also asking the United Nations to assist.
He pointed out that all the political parties by now know who won the Nov. 28 polls based on their statement of polls but GECOM should only be the body to make this announcement.
The President said APNU supporters are spreading information of a win using text messages and internet websites.
