Arima: A Jamaican national has to appeared before an Arima magistrate charged with the possession of a quantity of cocaine.
On Monday officers from the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau based at the Piarco International Airport were on duty around 7.30am yesterday, profiling passengers boarding Caribbean Airlines flight BW 414 for Kingston, Jamaica.
The officers recognized a male passenger as someone they interviewed sometime last week at a guest house in East Trinidad. The officers observed the passenger checked in two pieces of luggage, however only one was tagged to his ticket on his journey to Montego Bay.
The other piece was staying off in Kingston. After carrying out a search officers found 10 packets cocaine concealed in the inner lining of the suitcase with a weight of 1.4 kilograms.
He was charged for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and taken into custody.
