Georgetown- Police believe that they have the suspect who traded bullets with infamous businessman Manu Durant killing him Thursday last at the popular Baroombar night club. Information is that charges are to be laid soon against the man known as Malcolm who was apprehended Saturday last trying to flee the country at Eteringbang, Cuyuni River. The incident occurred around 04:30 hours, just when the bar was about to be closed for business.
Police in a press statement said that Durant, of Atlantic Ville, East Coast Demerara, was involved in an argument with another man, during which he was shot to his chest. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Managers at the popular night spot are mum on the issue, refusing to give out information. The night club is known for its high profile clients and has a serious security protocol about releasing information. Information is that Durant got into an argument with the alleged shooter after which he pulled out his gun and discharged a round which narrowly missed him.
The man who was armed retaliated and opened fire at Durant hitting him twice in the chest before calmly exiting the club.
