The first calypso monarchs for the 2012 Crop Over Festival, were crowned when the Junior Calypso Monarch Competition was held at the gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Complex over the weekend.
Jazz "Jazz-Z" Gittens and Aisha "Mandisa" Butcher were the winners in the 8 to 12 and the 13 to 18 categories respectively.
Jazz-Z who placed second for the past two years won with a calypso called "Cricket" and Mandisa sang "My Advice", a song about the mistakes of a teenage girl.
