Knee jerk reaction says DPP

Director of Public Prosecutions Charles Leacock is annoyed with the amendents to the Firearms Act calling it a knee jerk reaction which can give killer less time in jail than some guility of having a bullet.

Presenting a argument in the Court of Appeal, Leacock:"This Firearms Amendment Act cannot be allowed to stand on the books, it is patently unjust, it is ill conceived.

Leacock admitted it was the right Parliament had the right to pass laws for the peace and good governance of the society, he said the court  must examine whether the mandatory minimum was appropriate or disproportionate in certain circumstances.
