The medical intensive care unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital is to be expanded from a six bed shared section to a dedicated 11 bed department for critically ill patients.
During the expansion, renovations will also be done to the surgical intensive care unit which shares space with the intensive care unit.
The refurbishment project which is estimated to cost $2.8 million is being funded by the Rotary Club of Barbados West and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
