Bridgetown.
The deaths of three motorcyclists in the past three weeks have caused a member of the Traffic Division of the Royal Barbados Police Force, to issue a caution to users of those vehicles.
Station Sergeant Rodney Inniss says motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable people on the road.
"It does not matter how good a cyclists can ride, they have to balance a vehicle on two wheels", Inniss said.
He advised motorcyclists to secure their heads by wearing certified motorcycle helmets, not caps, hard hats or football helmets .
"As for pillion riders who may think they can take a change because they are not going far, remember it only takes a split second to get seriously injured or killed", he warned.
Inniss said while there were some law abiding motorcyclists, there were others who openly flouted the law.
"Those people not only put their own life at risk but endangered others as well. Some motorcyclists do not carry the neccessary licences and don't pay road tax , yet you them doing gymnastics on the road and riding at horrendous speeds", Inniss said.
He stated there was now a disturbing where people are riding unlicensed motorcycles on the streets.
