Lawmen committed to improving investigative skills

Bridgetown.

The Royal Barbados Police Force ( RBPF) is committed to improving the investigative skills of its officers to  equip them better to handle sexual offence cases.

Superintendent Livingston Eversley of the RBPF  told Trakker News there were 184 reported cases of rape and sexual cases of rape and sexual assault last year.

According to Eversley most rapes are crimes of opportunity,  and while the RBPF  is striving to educate the public on preventative measures that can be taken to reduce the cases of rape and other sexual offences occurring, the Force must also ensure that the manner in which it deals with rape and sexual offence victims does not allow victims to be victimised the second time around.
