Leader of Oppostion calls for action on CLICO issue

Bridgetown.

Former Prime Minister Owen Arthur, has called for immediate action on  the CLICO matter, speaking at a meeting of the St Peter constituency branch of the Barbads Labour Party at the Alma Parris Memorial School last night, Arthur said the people of Barbados could not wait for a commission of inquiry.

"The interest of the poor  people have to be served and this matter must be persued. If it leads to criminal prosecution, so be it and if some of my taxpayer's funds need to be expended in buying blue denim to adorn some people, I want to say this evening take it and buy", Arthur said.

He stated hundred of ordinary Barbadians and other in the Eastern Caribbean have hurt by the CLICO  debacle.

The Leader of the Oppostion said the roles of the late Prime Minister David Thompson as CLICO's lawyer and as Minister of Finance needed to be further exposed.
