Bridgetown.
President of the Barbados Association of Masqueraders Roger Millar, is appealing to social commentators to stop criticizing masqueraders when they jump on Kadooment Day.
"The festival is a product that brings in $80 million a year and in order for it to go forward it has to be embraced. Some people embraced it, others dont, some say there are not putting any money into Crop Over because there is to much vulgarity going on, like anything else that is part and parcel of the product", say Miller.
According to Miller, Grand Kadooment was a carnival and people would extend themselves as they revelled.
"It is about the road and the day belongs to the people that are participating in it. Critics say it is bringing down society but realley and truly it is the people's day", he added.
