Lightning strike cuts power in capital

Valsayn: Several parts of northern Trinidad were without electricity for most of the day after lightning struck a supply centre at Valsayn.

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission says its engineers and staff worked feverishly to restore power after the strike which occured around 11:30 this morning.

The strike lightning disrupted the electricity transmission system at its in parts of the capital city Port-of-Spain, Arima, Curepe, Chaguanas, Bamboo Village, St James, Piarco and Trincity.

TTEC says electricity was restored in East Trinidad around 3pm.
