Georgetown: Minister of Agriculture Dr. Leslie Ramsammy has congratulated New GPC and Dr. Bobby Ramroop on first his acquisition of the Guyana Franchise of the CPL and second as the sponsor of CPL.
Adding that through CPL, Limacol as a Guyanese product and New GPC as a Guyanese pharmaceutical company, both with considerable reputation already, will become better known, with an enhanced reputation and will become global names, Ramsammy said CPL will undoubtedly be popular in the Caribbean. But like 20/20 cricket across the world, it is likely to become part of the global popularity of 20/20 cricket. People throughout the Caribbean will be looking at TV and similarly, CPL cricket will be broadcast outside of the Region. Throughout the tournament, Guyana’s Limacol and NGPC will be seen.
Dr. Bobby Ramroop continues to demonstrate vision and courage in investing his resources. His success in bidding for the Guyana franchise and in bidding for the CPL sponsorship must be commended and be seen as a Guyanese success story.
“I know Bobby Ramroop does not look out for recognition. But his success brings pride to Guyana and to all of us. As a citizen of Guyana and as one who holds high office in my country I am extremely proud that a local company will be on the big stage. In some ways, this success is demonstrative of the far way we have developed as a country and being able to compete with the big businesses of the Caribbean,” Ramsammy noted. “As a Guyanese I know that I would have been proud of any Guyanese entrepreneur or company that would have won. I believe that all Guyana should stand behind Dr. Bobby Ramroop and the NGPC and behind CPL.”
