LIME workers on work to rule

Bridgetown.

Staff of  LIME are on work to rule, the decision was taken at a meeting between the workers and their bargaining agent the Barbados Worker Union(BWU) yesterday.

LIME 's Head of Human Resources Stephanie Catling-Birmingham, told  reporters the company had not closed the door on negotiations with the BWU and was committed to reaching a fair wage settlement for its  600 plus employees.  

The workers agreed to stage and the end of a three hour meeting held at the BWU headquarters at Solidarity House   attended by over 300 workers.

President of the Cable and Wireless division of the BWU Shawn Knight told the meeting:"Until we achieve a resolution to this matter, while we are at work we are doing that which our contracts ask us to do and no more".

Most of the workers voted in favour of taking industrial action if LIME's management fail to bring a better pay proposal on Monday.

General Secretary of the BWU Sir Roy Trotman give notice of possible strike action on Thursday after LIME  offer the same 7 percent pay hike  they had proposed in December last year.
