Georgetown : Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Ganga Persaud said that plans are moving apace for the holding of the long-awaited local government elections. He was at the time speaking at a press conference at his Kingston Office.
He said that the process started since 2012 and is continuing even more rapidly this year.
Only recently, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) announced the commencement of the 4th cycle of continuous registration. This exercise is set to conclude on May 18, 2013. This, Minister Persaud, augurs well for the holding of these elections.
