“Lost a comrade but gain a legacy”-Minister Rohee

Georgetown : Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee speaking on behalf of the members of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic says “the passing of comrade Reepu Daman Persaud, we have lost a comrade but gain his legacy. He has been with the party from the beginning and did not betray us. He stood side by side with Dr. Cheddi Jagan.”

 Minister Rohee reminded the gathering that Pandit Reepu’s name became a household word in Guyana and an icon of Hinduism.

Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud’s cremation came on the first day Hindus observe fasting for the auspicious period of Navraatri (praying and fasting to the supreme mother for nine days) and the beginning of the Hindu New year.

Pandit Reepu the founder of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabah a former PPP  minister and one of the longest serving politicians in the National Assembly( served  41 years), passed away Sunday last at the Caribbean Heart Institute, Georgetown, Guyana.
