Georgetown –Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon handed over monetary donations to two football teams that will be representing Guyana at the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) games in Suriname.
Accepting the grant, which was done on behalf of the Administration and the Office of the President, was Head Coach of the Milerock Football Club, Bryan Joseph and owner of Alpha United team, Odinga Lumumba at the Office of the President.
Dr. Luncheon said government has remained committed to fostering the development of sport in Guyana, this has seen several monetary interventions and support to teams in their quest to secure a spot for the country on the international sport arena.
Just after the Kashif and Shanghai tournament ended on January 1st 2011, Lumumba’s Alpha United came out as the winners and Lumumba said publicly that his team will not be competing in no small tournament in Guyana, but looking for the big money.
